Being a web developer has never been easier, but that doesn�t mean it�s going to be easy. You have to be honest and ask yourself how far down this path of the web developer you want to go. We begin with the basics. Every web page is like a house. And as a web developer you�re going to start making these houses. HTML is like the structure of the house. It�s the building blocks of each webpage. It is not a programming language like most people think. It�s a markup language, so it�s like laying down the blocks of what you want your website to look like. Every �block� has an open and end tag.

The next thing that a web developer should understand is CSS. With our house analogy, CSS is the design. First you have to know all the sub divisions for a full fledged web development (I am not trying to scare you here) Front end development or client side scripting (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Backend or server side scripting (PHP, Ruby, Python, NodeJS) and you can find lot of frameworks (Yii, Rails, Django, express) which makes your development process less troublesome while providing basic requirement in terms of security, speed, etc Database ( RDBMS - MySQL, Postage | Document Oriented - MongoDB, OrientDB | Graph databases - Neo4J) based on the requirement Application Server, web server (Apache, Nginx, IIS) Few more topics which you can look into: MVC paradigm for ease of code maintenance, Object oriented programming and/or functional programming, Securing web application Prepare yourself to understand the basics of how web works (Coursera), try whatever you learn and happy coding!

Broadly speaking there are two kinds of people in the world of technology: those who take whatever job happens along, and those who seek opportunities. Taking a low paying job to "get your foot in the door" could be an excellent opportunity. On the other hand, taking a low paying job could just be the first one that came along. Broadly speaking there are two kinds of people in the world of technology: those that learn a particular group of skills and technology and rarely deviate from it, and those who continue to learn new skills and explore new technologies. The first group will likely be more "successful" quicker because they capitalize on their knowledge early. The second group will likely succeed in the long run because technology changes so quickly and because the mindset of continuously learning is more valuable to employers. If you are actively watching for new career opportunities and actively learning new skills, you can go far. I would not recommend choosing an exact "future position" that you want right now, but having a general idea will help you make choices in the meantime. For example, do you prefer to advance on the management side of business or would you rather advance on the technology side? Knowing which will help you make decisions.

Front end development is a great career in 2017, but don�t get hit by the bus. There is all the hype around as to which is the latest cool front end technology to learn as a beginner. You assign yourself a task to learn front end development only to realize that the task is to find the particular framework to learn. Let me give you a few tips that will help you be a better front end developer. 1. Learn JavaScript It�s great that you have already mentioned that you know some jQuery. That is great, though you should know that jQuery is not JavaScript. In fact, front end developer is another name for a JavaScript developer. JavaScript is the programming language that you will use throughout your front end development. Forget about CoffeeScript for now. 2. Build some Boostrap themes It is quite easy to take a responsive Bootstrap template, paste it on a server and viola! you have a responsive website. Nah! If you want to be a great front end developer, try and recreate the whole template ground up because in most cases you will be required to build a user interface from a Photoshop mock up, not from another bootstrap template. Take for example a WordPress theme that is full of features and create a Bootstrap template that looks similar ground up. This will help you get a good eye for design, how to layout the page, pixelation and matching color codes among other front end stuff. 3. Build a jQuery plugin I thought I knew a lot of JavaScript! Not until I set to build a jQuery AutoSuggest plugin here. I had to learn JavaScript itself in order to understand document object manipulation better. The concept of nodes, childnodes, document nodes - it�s all really interesting in native JavaScript. jQuery abstracts much of this such that you never get to know what�s going on under the hood. You can do some front end for my open source jQuery plugin, I will be willing to help you with some JavaScript tips. 4. Consider taking a UI/UX course If you are very very serious about front end software developer then you want to consider one of these courses that will help you understand user interaction with interfaces. In order to design great interfaces that yield greater users experiences you need to have a better understanding of the UI/UX design and these courses go a bit into more depth about that. I am not a front end dev so I might not say much about them. 5. Go get a job You asked what employers like - employers like a developer who has a job! You could task yourself reading all this content and trying to build some demo projects but without that job experience, employers will still consider you a risky investment. Learning all these skills is only interesting if you are actually doing something useful with the skills learnt, or you will even forget what you learnt. Because getting a front end developer job might be hard when you don�t have the experience, I suggest you build a project by yourself that you can then show off as part of your portfolio to help you get a job. You might need to team up with a back end developer if you project will need some back end work.

Definitely Web development is the great career choice. But you are not going to be master in 1 or 2 months. Preliminary of your career requires more patience apart form other fields. Web development is not easy, it requires more practice on daily basis. However, It gives flexibility of earning money from Freelancing, office, home, or anywhere. But you need to be more flexible of all web trends. There are so many opportunities in web development around the globe. As developer you will have to be prepare for interviews anytime anywhere. Always try to learn new thing/technologies because web development is the fastest growing industry in the world, So you need to be fast as possible towards web skills. You should have to be more dynamic, if you are not means you will not able to work with latest tech, Even you can�t crack developers interviews. So there are two aspects of career, learn and earn. Initially you need to focus on learning not earning. So if you are building your career as web developer focus to learn basics as possible. Today�s there are so many ways you can build websites even you don�t have technical knowledge. If you start your career with CMS like WordPress site than you will not learn technical. So as i have already told you learn basics. You can easily find free tutorials on google. As web designer learn basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Try to build you own site. Once you learn basics you will be able to create at list static website. Gradually you will be the master of web. On the other hand if you have good command over programming skills like - PHP, .NET, PYTHON, RUBY along with Database Management such as Sql Server, Mysql go through development. But if you are good with both aspects apply for Full stack Developer. So there is noting bad if you are going to start your career as web developer. Today, web developers in highly demand not only in Software Companies, Apart from this there are so many other businesses requires online marketing, responsive websites/apps, they are always looking for a good web developer who can solve their business problems.
